It's here !  BGAN - Broadband Global Area Networking. Broadband, lightning fast, satellite internet access and emails wherever you go.*

BGAN is the world's first global mobile communications service to deliver simultaneous voice and broadband data through a single portable terminal.

Using a compact satellite terminal smaller than a laptop, to which you can connect your telephone and fax machine, and your laptop, you can have a mobile office with high speed broadband data capability at up to half a megabit, (492k bits/sec), or up to 50 times faster than your satphone data speed.

Surf the web while making phone calls at the same time, just as you would on a cable or ADSLconnection, but with the portability of satellite

It's available here at Radio Specialists. Amazing breakthrough technology that will revolutionize the way you do business.

Inmarsat 4

Massive satellites: Two thirds the size of a double-decker bus and weighing 6 tonnes !

Inmarsat 4 coverage

Inmarsat 4: Broadband Satellite
The launch of Inmarsat's next-generation satellite system has begun - the first of three Inmarsat-4 (I-4) satellites is now in commercial operation in the Indian Ocean Region. The fourth-generation I-4 spacecraft are among the largest commercial communications satellites ever launched. They are replacing their highly successful predecessors - the Inmarsat-2 and Inmarsat-3 spacecraft - as the pillars of Inmarsat's new Broadband Global Area Network BGAN services.

Together they will usher in a new era, delivering simultaneous voice and data at speeds of about half a megabit per second.

Each I-4 is a veritable powerhouse compared with the Inmarsat-3 spacecraft, offering:

Greater call capacity than all five I-3s put together
60 times more power than any one of its predecessors
12 times greater efficiency in its use of radio spectrum
16 times the capacity
25 times the receiver sensitivity.

The Inmarsat-4s, like their predecessors, are equipped with a single global beam that covers up to one-third of the Earth's surface, apart from the poles.

BGAN will deliver Internet and intranet content and solutions, video-on-demand, videoconferencing, fax, e-mail, phone and LAN access at speeds of up to 492kbps.

Together the I-4 beams will service *about 85 per cent of the world's landmass, covering approximately 98 per cent of the global population.

You have a choice of BGAN terminals

Smaller than a laptop computer and with a high broadband speed of 464 kbps to match Inmarsat-4 capability.

The basic system consists of one unit only - a transceiver with an integral antenna.

An optional external antenna can be erected in a convenient location outside.

Things you expect from Cable or ADSL are now available on BGAN with EXPLORERô 500.
